चाबी हराएको यो पिञ्जडा
आँखा जुध्दा खोल्ने रहेछ,
वर्षौ अगाडिको यो घाउको दाग
शिथिल हावामा पनि पोल्ने रहेछ ।
त्यहि पनि उड्दै छु,
हावालाई फेरि पनि छुदै छु ।
पखेटा फुटेको,
र आवाज टुटेको
यो मुटु ...
तिमी सामु हुँदा बोल्ने रहेछ ।।
The narrator here is someone who is afraid to love again, for his past endeavours in it has deeply hurt him. He is therefore unwilling to make the same mistake. Hence, the symbolism of the 'पिञ्जडा'- the cage, a prison of his own making to safeguard him from further pain.
Yet, as life often does, it brings new people into his world and he eventually comes across someone who challenges this naive narrative on love, who softens his rock-solid heart, reminding him that, despite everything, he still retains the capacity to love.
